Community Fridge

Welcome to Cromer Community Fridge, Freezer & Larder.

Opening times: Monday – Thursday, 9:30am – 3pm.
This service is closed every Friday.

Although restrictions have been eased, we respectfully ask that every body continues to wear a face mask whilst in our building (if possible). As well as wearing a mask, we ask that you continue to sign in with the NHS Track and Trace and sanitise your hands before entering the Fridge.

Don’t forget to bring your own bag! We cannot offer you one if you forget.
Due to the size of the Fridge and Larder area, we are running a ‘one in one out’ system, so please wait until the Larder is empty before entering.

If you do not wish to enter the Centre we are able to pack a parcel for you to collect at the door. Call 01263 519454 or 07801 299977 to discuss your requirements. You can also message us through our Facebook page.

Community Fridge:
Open to every body. The aim of the fridge is to reduce food waste within the community, so please feel free to pop in and take what you need.

Community Larder and Freezer:
This is slightly different to the fridge, as the aim is to provide emergency food support to those who require a helping hand. This acts as a ‘food top-up’ which we expect to last you around 2 days.
For more consistent food support, please ask us and we can signpost you to other helpful services.
Everybody is welcome – no referral or voucher is needed.

Donating to the fridge:
We can accept a range of donations to our Community Fridge and Larder. If you can give any items, it would be greatly appreciated.
We can accept donations such as…

– Tinned fruit
– Crisps
– Sandwich fillings (any)
– Cereal bars
– Margarine or butter
– Non-bio washing liquid
– Washing-up liquid
– Tinned soup, beans or other
– Savoury biscuits (e.g. cream crackers)
– Tinned tuna and other fish
– Cheese or cheese spread
– Yoghurts
– Pasties or sausage rolls
– Tinned custard, rice pudding or angel delight
– Tinned soup

Please remember: all donations must be sealed, have a good best before/use by date and have a list of ingredients listed on the packaging. We can also accept sealed cleaning products, nappies and toiletries.
We support over 70 families a week – all donations are appreciated and well-used. Thank you.

We have recently received funding from the Norfolk Community Foundation to provide shelving and other items to expand our fridge. We will be re-organising our space shortly to make the best use of the existing space available. Thank you to the Norfolk Community Foundation for this funding, it is appreciated and will be well-used.

We also have received £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund. This will be used to expand our fridge and larder by recruiting a new member of staff on a part-time basis, providing ongoing support to our existing services. Thank you once again to the National Lotter Community Fund for this funding!
